A Little Greek

2 Timothy 2:22- Avoid the passions of youth, and strive for righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who with a pure heart call out to the Lord for help.

A little tired about it, I started looking for the real way we have to live, as young people that we are. This bible verse is simple and direct. We don’t really have to go to the Greek version of the bible to understand it, but since I really wanted to show myself what I need to avoid and follow, I went to a Greek version and found the following. Lusts in Greek: Epithymia, meaning Evil desires. Surprising huh. What are evil desires? Well, what does not pleases God, the opposite of what God likes and good desires. So, I let your imagination run wild about it. Then, Youth, Nesterikos, well I guess that is an easy one, peculiar to an age, young as we.  Hah. So, as young people we should run away from those evil desires that we sometimes have. Media, sometimes has too much influence over us, side effect we want a Hollywood life, which is almost impossible to please God living that life, I mean don’t take me wrong, we are allowed to do anything [1 Corinthians 10:23] but not everything is good. Then “..strive for” in King James Version, says Follow, which means diokos, so to pursue, or go after “what is righteousness, faith, love and peace WITH THOSE WHO also love the Lord and seek him with a pure heart” So, surround yourself with people who seek Him, in spirit and in truth. Be careful, there is people who just act as if, or false believers. Pray and ask the Lord to give you wisdom, and He won’t be condescended to when you ask for it [James 1:5].
